Factory dash panels are designed for the widest possible customer base — which means they're designed for nobody in particular. Switches are placed for assembly efficiency, not ergonomics. Wire runs are longer than necessary. Labeling is often generic or missing. A custom panel fixes all of that in one shot. Every switch goes exactly where it makes sense for the way you run the boat. Labeling is precise, engraved to last decades. Wire runs are clean, properly sized, and protected. And the whole thing looks like it was built specifically for your vessel — because it was.
Panel Materials Compared
The material your panel is made from determines how it ages in South Florida's marine environment:

For most South Florida boats, we recommend King StarBoard. It machines cleanly on a CNC router, holds engraving well, and genuinely doesn't care about salt, sun, or water. Anodized aluminum is our choice when rigidity matters most.
The Fabrication Process
1. Site Survey & Load Analysis
Before anything is designed, we document every electrical circuit — what it powers, what breaker protects it, and what wire gauge it uses. This load analysis determines correct breaker sizing. Skipping this step is how fires happen.
2. Layout Design
We design the panel layout in CAD, grouping circuits logically — navigation, cabin, electronics, bilge, accessories. You review and approve the design before anything is cut.
3. CNC Fabrication
The panel is cut and engraved on a CNC router. Cutouts for switches, breakers, and displays are machined to tight tolerances. Labeling is routed directly into the material — not stickers.
4. Wiring & Assembly
All wiring is run with marine-grade tinned copper wire, properly sized for each circuit. Connections are crimped with heat-shrink terminals rated for the marine environment.
5. Installation & Testing
The panel is installed, every circuit is tested under load, and the boat is sea-trialed to confirm everything performs correctly.
What Goes On a Panel
Beyond basic breakers and toggles, a well-designed panel can integrate lighted rocker switches, digital voltmeters, USB charging outlets, shore power indicators, engine hour meters, bilge pump run indicators, NMEA 2000 access points, and battery monitor displays.
